Short History
Udayan Secondary School is a traditional quiet, mellow, serious yet joyful Vidyaniketan established in the heart of Barisal district on the banks of Kirtankhola river. At birth it was named “Kishor Primary School”. After that, the school, which has stood for ages and crossed all the obstacles of time on the journey of the great age, has passed through the youth and youth and has reached maturity today. A timely and practical plan to spread the light of education from house to house in Barisal region with the Most Reverend Bishop Larose of Chittagong Dharma Pradesh, Reverend Father Picard, CSC and Father Obe, CSC and some religious and progressive people in 1953 AD took over In 1953, with their dedicated efforts, "Kishore Primary School" was first established with about 80 (eighty) students at No. 5 Sadar Road. The purpose of which was to educate the Christians and other students living in Barisal coming from different places and to enrich the culture and culture of Bengal. The head teacher then was Brother Cardinal, CSC. With this great aim in mind, the school continues to move towards the future. Kishore Primary School was shifted to Navagram Road around 1957 AD. Along with the change of location, the name of the school was also changed to “St. Paul's Primary School”. The head teacher then was Brother Gramo, CSC. Here too students were not being accommodated, especially high school students. Then, after deliberation, 1st and 2nd class along with Prabhati Balika Vidyalaya and 3rd- 8th class students studied separately in the premises of Prabhati called St. Paul's at 'Prabhati Balika Vidyalaya' at No. 5 Sadar Road. After the girls' vacation, the boys' classes would start there. Sister Rani, CSC was the headmaster of Prabathi High School and Brother Baptiste, CSC was the headmaster of St. Paul's School. In this way, all the activities of the two schools continued at the same place for several years. Later there was a proposal to change the name of the school to Bengali name and the name 'Udayan' proposed by the school teacher Babu Panchanan Ghosh caught everyone's attention. Therefore, through many arguments, the new name of the school was given as Udayan Secondary School. In this way, the progress of the school is moving forward with the name Udayan. At present the school occupies one of the most prominent places in the city of Barisal. This institution has received the National Excellence Award thrice. The school has 100% students pass in SSC, JSC and final examination. Udayan Secondary School has been the best school since its inception and is currently ranked among the best private educational institutions in South Bengal.
