A two-day session was successfully organized for the newly appointed teachers of institutions run by the Holy Cross Brothers. The program aimed to deepen their understanding of the Holy Cross educational philosophy, its rich traditions, and its pedagogical approach. Through an exploration of key writings, research, and lived experiences, participants reflected on the essence of Holy Cross education and its timeless values.
The sessions were structured to revisit significant contributions from various scholars, researchers, and practitioners, including:
* The educational philosophy and schooling envisioned by Blessed Fr. Basil Moreau.
* Holy Cross’s traditional approach to education in Bangladesh.
* Insights from doctoral research on Holy Cross pedagogy and its global impact.
* Relevant excerpts from the Holy Cross Constitution, articles, and foundational texts.
The program began with a welcoming address by Bro. Kajol Costa, Convener of the Holy Cross Education Committee, followed by words of encouragement from Bro. Ripon J. Gomes, Provincial Superior. Highlights of the first day included thought-provoking presentations by Bro. Subal Rozario on education in the early ages, with a focus on The Republic by Plato, and on the characteristics and qualities of Holy Cross education. Bro. Leo Pereira further enriched the discussions by elaborating on the core values upheld by Holy Cross institutions.
The life-sharing segment provided a meaningful opportunity for experienced educators to share their journey of implementing Holy Cross values and pedagogy in the classroom.
This session reaffirms our commitment to empowering educators with the knowledge and values needed to carry forward the legacy of Holy Cross education, fostering holistic development in the lives of their students.
